James,

FUS is in use on the machine but I'm not sure if any profiles were in use at
the time. Certainly the screen-save timeout had occurred because I recall
this was presented to via VNC. As a rule the other users of the system
don't log out and given it had only been turned on that morning to access
hotmail I suspect at least 1 FUS session was established.

RD has never has been used on this PC.

The only other point to make is this machine is (at 128M) quite memory
stressed and thrashes the HDD mercilessly from time to time (one day I'll
get some more RAM for it). Perhaps WinXP itself wasn't keeping its end of
the bargain in a timely fashion?

Regardless the viewer reacted quite badly to the (presumably) mixed signals
coming from the server. I will keep monitoring the situation.

Cheers, Frank.

WinXP SP2?

Frank,

Had you been using Fast User Switching or Remote Desktop beforehand?

Cheers,
