If you run vnc as a service. You can hit the Windows key on your keyboard, then hit "r" and enter. This should pop up a "Run the following As a command" window. Type "cmd" or "command" depending on if you have "win2k" or "winxp/win98" and then type:

net stop realvnc

where "realvnc" is the name of your vnc service.
