You are trying to control home from work?
Then your problem can be narrowed down by doing the following:
1. Do you have a hardware firewall or router installed between your
cable modem and computer?
- make sure you forward port 5900 to your pc
- make sure the ip you are using to connect to is the
right one, on your home computer go to http://www.dslreports.com/whois
and make sure you are using this IP/
2. do you have windows xp service pack 2 installed?
- make sure you set up winvnc4.exe as an exception
3. do you have a software firewall (e.g norton zone alarm Outpost?)
make sure you allow the vnc service.
4, if you can verify that all of theese are correct... then try to
connect from a friends computer ( not work, and see if that works)
