The other option that I use is SSH

SSH allows you to tunnel any port over a secure connection. It also
can allow in some circumstances to run the SSH server on any computer
and tunnel traffic through it.

e.g.

pc1--->ssh client ---->ssh server<----ssh client<-----pc2
vnc<----------------------------------------------------------------->vnc

However, SSH is also a dificult beast to tame.

The quickest and easiest solution would probably be vnc enterprise
which should be available soon. (right Wez?)
