If both computers are using routers, odds are you need to set up port
forwarding.  This is like opening ports in Zone Alarm.  Your routers will
have a setup page and there you will need to open the same ports you did in
Zone Alarm.
Also, I assume your platform is Windows.  You should look here:
http://www.realvnc.com/documentation.html
at the documentation for your flavor of Win and make sure you avoid the
problems they mention.
Also, beware of SP2.  If you have routers, then turn off the Windows SP2
firewall.  You are plenty safe behind a router firewall.

P.S. - I know some of the hard core security people may dispute the previous
sentence.  Fine.  Just keep the flames to a minimum. ;)

other in NC. both pc's have zone alarm, both use routers... im not
able to connect to the other pc. i used the ip add i got from
whatismyip.com.. they just wont connect :)
