If both computers are using routers, odds are you need to set up port forwarding. This is like opening ports in Zone Alarm. Your routers will have a setup page and there you will need to open the same ports you did in Zone Alarm. Also, I assume your platform is Windows. You should look here: http://www.realvnc.com/documentation.html at the documentation for your flavor of Win and make sure you avoid the problems they mention. Also, beware of SP2. If you have routers, then turn off the Windows SP2 firewall. You are plenty safe behind a router firewall.
P.S. - I know some of the hard core security people may dispute the previous sentence. Fine. Just keep the flames to a minimum. ;) Geof Gibson - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apple Certified Portable Technician Registered Linux User 319068 You can always send mail to soundsurgeon.tv as well http://soundsurgeon.tv http://variableproductions.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of zee Sent: Friday, October 08, 2004 6:11 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: question from a newbie :) hi everyone... im trying to use vnc between two computers, one here in MD and the other in NC. both pc's have zone alarm, both use routers... im not able to connect to the other pc. i used the ip add i got from whatismyip.com.. they just wont connect :) give me some advice please :) thanks!! _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
