Quick refresher of my problem -- I've been using a tunnelled TightVNC
session to view my desktop at home (RedHat 9) from my PC at work (Windows
2000 Pro.) It worked up until Monday when for some strange reason it stopped
working, then just as mysteriously, it started working again Monday
afternoon when I had someone from the RealVNC list helping me diagnose it.
This morning it stopped working again.
I found the source of my problem with tunneling. I don't know why it
suddenly became a problem, but Thursday night, I edited my hosts.deny to add
an entry "ALL:ALL" and then added an entry in my "hosts.allow" to permit my
work PC to connect. Well, apparently it was working for SSH, but not for
VNC, because when I comment out that one line in the hosts.deny, I can make
the tunneled VNC connection. If I comment it out, make the connection and
then uncomment it again, I'm able to stay connected.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix it, other than ssh in, edit the
hosts.deny file, make the connection and then uncomment that line?
Thanks...
John
