The minimum hardware requirements depend heavily on the type of desktop
being made available, and on the requirements of the underlying operating
system itself.  As a rule of thumb:

- A low-latency network connection is better
- VNC will adapt to the available network bandwidth, but 128Kbps or more is
most comfortable
- For an 800x600x8bpp desktop, 0.5Mb of memory will be required for the
desktop bitmap.  Larger resolutions will require more memory.

It's usually easier to answer the question the other way around, i.e. "given
this platform with this hardware, will VNC work well?".  Can you provide
more details on your target platform?
