Hi. I am using version 4.0 and am connecting through a linksys router. I am port forwarding 5900 thru 5923 (I use 5914 typically) to my home machine running win2k pro. I have set up vnc as a service and it does work, but I am having an interesting problem. Occasionally, I will notice I cant connect to my home cpu from work and when I go home, I realize that vnc has turned itself off - I hover over the vnc icon and it says that's its "not accepting incoming connections"! Here is the strange part... If I go into the settings and mess around... say change the port # to something else then change it back to what it was, and THEN hover over the vnc icon, it says the ip of my machine (192.168.1.106) which is correct, and it allows me to connect as normal.
It seems to do this at random, and the vnc serice can stay up for days accepting connections, or in a hour it may stop accepting connections. I've been using vnc for years and have searched the archives/FAQs and didn't see a related problem. Does anyone have an idea about what's going on?
