2) Yes, both machines are on the same physical network! Well, within this
local network, I'm using the router mainly for being online with all pc's at
the same time (like a proxy). 
The ipadresses for every pc was given by the router automatically (I think
it's called DHCP..).
So I think the router is between all pc's of the local network, isn't it?

OS: Windows XP Prof.
Firewall: Agnitum Outpost (free edition)
Antivirus: F-Secure
