Hello Wayne... First off you need to find out how you are going to get through your firewall. Firewall is a generic term, And "corporate firewall" usually means "we don't want you to do anything but HTML".
So if you are planning on using ssh (putty is an ssh client) to tunnel, you'll have to ask your BOSS if the "corporate firewall" allows ssh. or I guess you could just try it and see. But I doubt its open as it would be a huge hole in your "corporate firewall". If you can use it, Then you'll need to setup an SSH server on your wife's computer so that you can get use putty to connect to it.
