Tried this with no joy. It seem amazing that simple port forwarding may not work. However, the Netgear forums are full of such strange issues. J

On the other hand, I've used a 4 port Linksys router and it worked with the DHCP server running. I upgraded the firmware in the 8 port router and then I could leave the DHCP server running and forward ports just fine.
