I have this line in my /etc/shorewall/rules file - vnc works fine for me
ACCEPT:info net all tcp 443,5800:5899,5900:5999 - - - -
ACCEPT:info net all udp 443,5800:5899,5900:5999 - - - -
If youw want to limit the number of VNC screens permissable just remove the words :5899 and :5999, that will limit you to using ONLY VNC screen 0.
Good luck
Ignore the 443 port that I allow - that is for other purposes

Hi, I am using the latest version of realvnc and I have a IPTABLES based shorewall linux router between my viewer computer and the computer with the vnc-server on it. Is there something I can do to actually connect? I have tried changing clampmss to yes, but to no avail. I still only get "server closed unexpectedly". Any help would be really appreciated.
Sincerely,
