Telnet <public.ip.of.router> 5800 and see if you get any response. If you
get *any* response, chances are you're making it outside of your corporate
LAN. If you *don't* get anything (anything other than "connection timed out"
that is) then you are not getting out of your LAN.

are you saying that there may be a firewall at work not letting the VNC
traffic out onto the Internet? I know http traffic goes through a proxy
server but not sure about ftp traffic. are you thinking that i'm not
getting outside of my corporate network? is there any easy way to
troubleshoot this from the desktop? maybe like a tracert for VNC? is there
any way to know if the VNC traffic is getting outside of the corporate
network to the Internet?
