Richard, This is just a stab in the dark but is it possible your LAN at work inibits (blocks) LAN traffic on some ports but allows the traffic when it is going to the outside.
If you really want to track this down you could watch the LAN packets with a sniffer like Ethereal (freeware) and see what is different between Work --> Home --> Win2K server and Work -----------> Win2K server. It would be interesting to find out but I'm not really it would add to your functionality (I assume you have a way already to access anything you need on the Win2K server - but VNC access is sometimes better because you get around the NT security). Yes, it has forwarding on. I have VNC v4 installed at work, and at home. From work, I put in the IP and the authentication screen opens, I put in the password and the screen opens, but remains black. Hmm, must be something on the server I surmise. I go home and point the same version VNC to it, and voila, it opens and I see the white logon screen (Win2K Server). So, I figure it is something with screen turned off, or something like that. So, I fixed home setup so I can reach home from work I can reach home from work (all is well) I try to reach the server in question from the VNC session at home and all works. I try it from the VNC session at work, and black screen, no activity. VNC is getting to my home computer from work, letting me start a session to the server and all works. What should I be looking for to fix the VNC session from work to the server? Session summary below Work----------->home (good) Work-->Home->Win2K server (good) Work----------->Win2K server (black screen - no response after authentication) Home----------->Win2K server (good) _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
