New to this list but using VNC for over 2 years and I'm really stumpped and
could really use some help/advice:
I run a win2k pro Server running WarFTP , Apache, Argo Mail Server, RealVNC 4.0
I use VNC to allow me to use a workstation (also win2k Pro) running the Viewer,
to Add clients to my FTP client User's table. (The noisy server is in the
basement the workstation upstairs)
Since upgrading to Ver 4.0 my Win2k Pro machine crashes (ie reboots) When ever
the VCN Viewer hangs during my administrative sessions...which happens often.
I don't know whether the problem is in the Viewer or the Server . The Viewer
hangs and I can X out and restart it. But I have to wait for the server to
complete the reboot before I can reconnect...meanwhile any user on the server
has obviously disconnected and my service is now less stable as a result.
In the past my server would stay up for over a week but now I am barely able to
use VCN 4.0 without a crash of my server occurring approx 25% of the time.
It's a gamble to use the product but being lazy I don't want to walk downstairs
hence my new server unstability issue.
Is this a know problem? Could I have some settings wrong ? Could it be Memory
related (512 on the server) 256 workstation)
Is the non free version more stable?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
