I'm upgrading to version 4 now. I was just curious to see if this problem has occurred in the past and if so, has it been fixed in version 4?

I've been observing this behavior for 2 years and have yet to identify the circumstances around which the error occurs. It always occurs at the point when I connect to the server. The error only occurs on the server. And it happens randomly. The problem has become less frequent over the years and I don't know if it is due to bug fixes in RealVNC or bug fixes in newer versions of Microsoft Windows.

Have you thought about using version 4 of realvnc?

this version appears to be version 3 of the server?

I have a Windows XP SP2 machine running the VNC Server at work. Using a
Windows XP SP2 machine at home, I connect via RealVNC. The program will
randomly crash with the error messages below (screenshots at

to drive an hour into work to restart the machine.

Error 1:
winvnc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience.

Error 2:
winvnc.exe
Error signature
szAppName: winvnc.exe szAppVer: 3.3.7.0 szModName: winvnc.exe

This random problem has existed in all versions of RealVNC since late 2002.
