Ahh... Ok. Are you just getting the grey screen with no apps or desktop? If so, you're just not running a desktop manager, like Gnome or KDE and need to get that running. I'm not sure how to do that when you start it from init, but if you were running it from the console, and then connecting to the VNC server session that could be fixed fairly easily. John
