I've just spent a happy couple of hours looking into this problem in
great detail. Eventually I found the answer. It was the ZoneAlarm
personal firewall that was causing the problem. When I stopped
ZoneAlarm, everything worked perfectly. I had configured ZoneAlarm to
allow vncviewer.exe to access the network, but somehow ZoneAlarm was
interfering, only when vncviewer.exe was using a *.vnc config file.
Weird.

I've now upgraded to the latest ZoneAlarm and now everything works even
with ZoneAlarm running.

Thanks for your support and I hope this information helps anyone else
who comes across the same problem.
