I have 4 PC's connected to a BEFVP41 Linksys router. The 3 desktop PC's work correctly using the PC viewer & Java viewer to connect to other PC's in the LAN or over the internet. The 4th PC, a Compaq Presario X1000 Laptop locks up the PC viewer or Java viewer and then locks up my network connection on the laptop. This usually takes about 2-4 minutes to happen. This only happens when I connect over the internet to most remote PC's. If the Laptop connects to any of the PC's in the LAN I have no problems. When the Laptop bypasses the router and connects to the internet, directly connected to the cable modem or by using a dial up connection, I experience no problems. I can close the VNC window, but I have to reboot the laptop to get back on line. The Laptop is connected to the router via an ethernet cable. The Laptop has the latest windows updates including SP2 and the latest video and network drivers. I have tried to reboot all the routers, modems, and Laptop with no resolution.
I have a Wireless Access Point connected to the BEFVP41 router, and when the Laptop connects to a remote PC through the internet via the wireless connection I have no problems. I don't normally connect the Laptop wirelessly, so I would hope someone out there can figure this out.
