Is the work computer behind a firewall or PAT router? If this is so then you need to have your firewall group) set up a "port forward" and firewall rules to allow you access.
If you need to go beyond that you will need to do a little more work to get this going, which will include installing software on the work side. --Angelo On Thu, 3 Mar 2005 17:19:42 -0800 (PST), ketki <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > hello > I have a home network setup. with a windows 2000 desktop and > a windows XP laptop connected through a netgear router. the laptop > has wireless connection to the router. > I have VNC server running at my work. and the tightVNC viewer > running on desktop is able to connect fine, but the laptop > is viewer is giving me error "Failed to connect to server" . > The laptop is able to ping the work machine, I have disabled the > windows XP firewall, and norton anti virus on the laptop is also > disabled.
