This message means that your computer's routing configuration is somehow set
up in such a way that certain IP addresses are completely innaccessible.
This might be the case, for instance, if you tried to ping an Internet IP
address while only your computer's Local Loopback network interface were
avaialble.

You can try typing:

Route print

In a command-prompt, to check that you have a sensible looking routing
configuration - you should have in particular a "default gateway" line, that
indicates where to send network data that can't be sent directly to a local
computer (i.e. data that must be "routed" to a remote one).
