Kristopher, The actual error message cannot have been "Unable to connect to host (10050)", I'm afraid. Are you sure it wasn't:
unable to connect to host: A socket operation encountered a dead network. (10050) Are there any other services running on the server computer to which you *can* connect from those workstations. Can you even ping it?
