Hi,
I'm normally a very helpful and friendly guy, but after reading just one too many "hello, can you hold my hand through the whole process because I can't be bothered to read the documentation" emails I feel like responding: RTFM!!!
I have been on this list for a couple months now and I am amazed at the number of people who do not read the documentation but have the nerve to come here and ask everyone else to do it for them. I mean, it takes more work to subscribe and post to the list than it does to read the instructions on using VNC.
Sorry for the rant, but I needed to blow off some steam... Is it just me? :)
part of the reason while this list is sometimes tedious to follow is the cross-platform nature of vnc. i read the samba lists as well, same problem there. there is some truth in "different os, different culture". apart from just not understanding each other properly due to subtle jargon differences and/or familiarity with technical terms, the amount of do-it-yourself attitude is certainly different for each of the os's that vnc supports...
all the more kudos to wez and the other patrons of this list to chime in with help and to support a great product. may the great sysadmin in the sky forever let you maintain the system of your choice with your favourite tools! :-D
