James,
I use the newest VNC Version 4.1.1-1 and not the VNC Version 3 included
in the distribution of Suse 8.1. My Installation see below. It worked
perfectly until the reboot this morning.
Idea where the vnc logs are?

In /etc/services:
vnc1024 5950/tcp # normal 16 bit colors
vnc1024-8 5951/tcp # normal 8 bit colors

In /etc/inetd.conf:
vnc1024 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd -query
localhost -once -depth 16 -geometry 1024x768 -rfbauth /etc/vncpasswd
vnc1024-8 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd -query
localhost -once -depth 8 -geometry 1024x768 -rfbauth /etc/vncpasswd

Regards,

Fabio

Fabio,

You will need to refer to the SuSE documentation for details of how they
configure VNC, including where to look for log files.
