Hmm. Well, you appear to be correct. Or at least explain a few things.
I found the method used to install VNC. It appears to be a vanilla install of 3.3.3 R9, and after that, a program in a directory named vnc_sec is run, which installs the NT Validation. It installs new versions of various executables and dll's, and updates some registry keys. There's not any documentation in the vnc_sec directory as to its origin. I'll have to start examing the binaries to see if there's any contact info in them. Thanks for the help!
