as far as I know, version 4 doesn't allow this. in version 3.3.7,
install as a service, then remove the WinVNC entry from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the
registry.

the following lines can be saved in a .reg file to do it for you

---begin copied text---

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"WinVNC"=-

---end copied test---

I vaguely remember something about disabling access to the context menu
or portions of it, but can't find anything at the moment.

Subject: VNC Icon

Hi,
I've just subscribed to this site and am probably asking an already
answered question. I administer a high school network and "Duty of
care" demands that I monitor the students' access to the internet to
prevent access to inapropriate sites. Up to now VNC has been brilliant
especially in conjunction with VNCon. However now the students have
realised that the moment the VNC icon changes colour they right click on
it and "disconnect client" thus breaking the link. Now students log on
to inappropriate sites but keep their mouse icon hovering over the
disconnect link.

Is there a way to 1. prevent this.
                                   2. remove the VNC icon from the
students' system tray?

  Cheers
         Mel
