Another way to test this theory is to RDP into the remote machine (or
have someone at the remote machine), bring up a DOS prompt and enter:

    tscon 0 /dest:console

This will reset the Session 0 Erik is describing back to the console,
where VNC can once again control it. If this fixes the issue, you know
it is RDP or fast user-switching causing the problem. Version 4.1.1 is
better at handling the issue, but it's still an issue... Until it is
fully fixed in RealVNC, I would suggest using the built-in RDP or Remote
Assistance features of XP.
