OIC,

     The customers actually still need to run vncserver on their
machines but there is feature of vncserver that is reverse connect,
where the server initates a connection to a listening viewer.

   Check out ultraVnc's Single Click (SC) package for this support
situation.  However your clients will need to download an exe (not
java) in order for this to work.

The java viewer the customer loads cannot be used for control of their machine.
