If so...can you successfully connect to your office LAN using Netscreen Remote *at all*? Most IPSec VPN clients (like yours) speak both parts of the IPSec protocol, one of which will prevent VPN connections from behind a NAT'ing router like your LinkSys box. Since most broadband users have NAT'ing routers, this part of the IPSec protocol (called "AH" for "Authentication Header") is almost always "turned off".
Anyhow...if you can connect using the VPN client (e.g., you can check your work email, or access an internal file server, etc.) and VNC doesn't work...the most likely culprit is a very esoteric detail of IP packets called the "MTU" size. That is, after you are VPN'd, you will need to open a DOS command-line window on your Windows PC (Start -> Run -> "cmd"), and type in:
ping <ip.address.of.workpc> -f -l 1472
If you get a message like "result = fragmented packet", then you'll have to adjust the MTU settings of your LinkSys router, as per the instructions. Then everything should work. :)

I am connected to the internet through a cable modem. I accessed my office pc by using the VNC Viewer (I kept the VNC server active on my office pc)
My office pc (VNC server) is programmed to accept the password I enter from home on the viewer. The office pc is on a network and I have a doorway in to my pc thru a firewall. The ISP at the office uses NetScreen Remote (installed on my home pc) to allow me thru the firewall.
I just type in my office IP address then the password. That is the only programming I've ever done for the VNC on either end.
The progression is cable into modem, out to router, out to pc.
The change was adding the router. prior to that it was cable to modem to pc.
I see references to adding ports in other posts on the mailing list. How do I even check what ports I have open? I don't see that setting option in my preferences or options.
