Perry,

There is no such version of vncserver as 1.2.9. it sounds like you're 
probably running software based on VNC server rather than a standard 
release.  Can you upgrade your server to VNC 4 and try again?

The problem may well be that the third-party VNC-based software you're 
using is not RFB-compliant and therefore not compatible with the standard 
viewer.
