Hi, 1. There is a machine behind firewall so the only way to control it via VNC is to make outgoing connection with a listening viewer. 2. There is a task to accomplish on this machine - install some software on it and this task requires rebooting a few times. 3. There are more than one user and the system is Windows XP so placing tha "C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\winvnc4.exe" -connect CONTROLING_HOST_IP in startup folder or registry keys is no help at all (they won't be fired off until someone logs in) 4. Apparently there is a need to start vnc server with the -connect switch automatically during boot as a Windows service. 5. Hopefully there is a freeware program http://www.duodata.de/ntwrapper/index.htm which allows to run any program as a Windows service.
And there is a problem :) I couldn't manage to successfully run vnc server with the -connect switch although I tried all possible combinations of options in NTWrapper. Is someone interested in making this scenerio happen? If yes please take a look at http://www.duodata.de/ntwrapper/index.htm and see for yourself if you could find the right set of options to successfully run vnc server as a Windows service. If you find the solution please share your knowledge with us on this group.
