I tried a newer version of Cadence (we were using 5.0.33.USR1) and the
screen refresh problem disappeared but the shift + mouse problem remained.

I also then tried your recent release 4.1.1 of the free product

This appears to have fixed the refresh problem for BOTH versons of Cadence
It also fixed the shift+mouse problem as you predicted.

Sounds like Cadence was doing something sloppy and the later version of VNC
(and Exceed) deals with it on the Refreshing front.

Thanks very much

Incidentally what is RealVNCs position on Redhat distribution othe realvnc.
Redhat is usually reasonably proactive with supplying recent versions I was
surprised to
see they were distributing 4.0.0.beta ware. Is it worth me chasing them
to stay up to date ?
