I'm not familiar with this machine. Can you get a terminal window on the
local display? If so, you ought to be able to SU to root (unless they have
that blocked) and install that way.

Subject: how to install on linux server (e-smith)

I want to install VNC on en E-Smith Linux server (Mitel Networks SME server
6.0).
My problem is that it does not give access to a commend prompt.
Does anyone know how to get to the command line (hot keys, function keys
etc)?
ctrl-alt-f1 does not work.
After that: exactly what do I type at the command line to install VNC on the
linux server?
Or can I copy the extracted files to a specific destination folder (via
Windows Explorer)?

I hope someone can help me on the Linux side. The Windows version is working
just perfect on my home network (all the hazzle with network setup on
scanner/copy/printer is history - VNC gives immediate access to all the
scanner facilities. Great).
