Hello, Adrian:

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out today (commenting out the Load
"dri" line in XF86Config) and IT WORKS!! I can now access display :0 using a remote viewer from XP.

FYI, the PC I use has the following:
- Asus K7M motherboard
- ATI Xpert 2000 (rage 128) with 32MB memory
- Redhat Linux 9
- kernel 2.4.2008
- X Server 4.x

However, for some unknown reasons, I cannot get connected to the native display when I use a brower pointing at http://myvncserver:5800 although I can use http://myvncserver:5801 to access my desktop 1. Both 5800, 5801, 5900 5901 are open at the router in front of the Linux PC, and they are also opened for input at the iptables (/etc/sysconfig/iptables. Am I missing something??

Thanks again.

Regards,

YS Kwong

Check the archives (from around the 29 July) - you need to comment out
dri loading to avoid the crash. Why this occurs is uncertain but I
have the following on the machine that freezes with vnc and dri loaded
:-

- Ubuntu 5.04
- Kernel 2.6.10
- Asus A7V600-X
- Graphics card (uncertain and cannot check at the moment)

It may help if those that have the problem list their
hardware/kernel/Xserver info. here to see if we can find a common
denominator.

Sincerely,

Adrian Phillips
