You are correct, it will not build the X as it is.
I downloaded xorg and its ibm related files are *very* different and I am
attempting the build with that package right now. Will keep
you posted.
Can you tell me what version of gcc you use?

Tom,
First things first:
Have you been able to compile the X tree on its own on AIX, without any of
the VNC code patched into it? The #else problems you were seeing suggested
that you would find that you couldn't.
