Mike,

Check the Application Event Log on the VNC Server, as described in the FAQ
(http://www.realvnc.com/faq.html#unexpectedClose).  You will see Information
messages from WinVNC4 that start "Connections: accepted" and "Connections:
closed" - the latter will explain why the connection was closed.

A simple diagnostic that may also help is to use telnet to connect to the
problem server on port 5900 and see what it prints out.
