I had once experience where ip of the server I was trying to connect to was one digit off and I was hitting another server with VNC. I spent about an hour believing that I am hitting the right ip and trying to figure out why authentication is failing.

Make sure that you are hitting the right server. Try logging connections or do soemthing to make sure.

Thanks,
Alex

John,

How can that possibly help, since the problem is with authentication
failing?

Try adding the VNC Server executable to the "trusted" apps in the XP
Firewall, and allow those two ports to pass through the firewall as well.

Subject: VNC Authentication Failed

Sorry for asking age old question. I've searched the list and haven't found
a
solution to this.

I have remote machine with Windows XP pro and no-ip installed and VNC server is running. On the remote system, the router is configured to pass port
5900,
5800 to the appropriate port on the appropriate machine. When i try to
connect that machine, I get the password box but after I typing in the
password I get the message "VNC authentication failed!".

On remote machine, i have added MS Logon II users with DomainName\UserName
and
have given the full permissions. Is there anything more to be configured at
the server ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
