. There have been a couple of places where I have been unable to access VNC, apparently for two reasons. I have the server running from home and can access it without problems from my notebook, but sometimes have problems accessing it from other computers. I am using Windows computers. Apparent reasons why I have trouble accessing it (two)
1) The web browser on the computer I am using is not Java enabled. 2) The computer I am using (it belongs to someone else, usually a business) will not allow installation of applications, specifically the VNC client. As best I can tell, when installing the VNC client on someone else's computer, it tries to place its default values in the Registery (Windows computers) and this attempted modification of the registery appears to be what prevents VNC from installing on the computer. I do not have administrator privileges. It appears, although I am not sure, that if VNC could be run without use of the registery, i.e., storing the default values in a separate file, VNC could be stored on the C drive of those computers and run directly from them without trouble. Is this analysis correct or is it flawed? Does anybody know how to run VNC (or a similar program) from a web browser that is NOT Java enabled? Or to run VNC without installing it (and apparently attempting to modify the registery) on the Windows computer? Thanks. _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [email protected] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
