Well, it's worth a shot.... it might have updated something so that it now perceives VNC as a threat.

My XP firewall is off. I do have Norton Firewall, but I have forwarded the ports (and it worked before I forwarded ports). I have also disabled firewall temporarily, and still does not work. I could try disabling antivirus, but I had that before, so not sure why that would matter now. If so, you might want to verify that the VNC Server app, winvnc4.exe is set as "allowed" in the XP firewall. Also, check to make sure you don't have any other "security" software which might be blocking VNC. There are a number of reports that some antivirus apps will see VNC as malware and block it. The remote computer has been tried from work (wired) and from my home wireless, connected to my work VPN and then attempting to come back into the server. Both used to work; neither does now. Thanks for any help. I installed RealVNC 4.1 Free Edition, using NO-IP to take care of my dynamic addressing issues. Worked fine from the get-go, both locally and from work over internet. I did not even need to set up port forwarding on my Netgear WGT624 router. Suddenly, it has stopped working via the Internet, though it still works fine over the LAN. I have tried forwarding ports 5900-5910 and 5800-5810, and still does not work. I disabled fast-user switching (which HAd been enabled) and turned off remote access -- and still no luck. What else can I try?
