First off, from the server machine, brows to http://www.gotomyvnc.com and have it scan for listening servers. If it finds one, you know the cable company isn't blocking. However, I suspect that maybe the cable company is blocking VNC under the "no servers" policy that many/most cable/dsl companies seem to have.
