Something that I've noticed is that if you log out of the ssh session with VNC still active, the ssh session stays open until the VNC is closed. This seems to happen with any tunnelled port - you can log out of the ssh session but it will not close completely until the connection using that port exits. Therefore, using a ssh shell that simply waits a minute or so and then exits might assist here.

The above was all with ssh under cygwin/windows so whether this will work on Linux I don't know, but I hope it will be of some help.

Joe,

SSH is a separate system to VNC. The two are not related.

Subject: SSh-agent not dying after vnc viewer
exit/logoff/logout/disconnect

I could use a little help.

I am running VNC 4.1 on a linux RHEL4 machine using xinetd. I have
found that the ssh-agent starts each time I log into the server, but
does not die/exit when I logout, logoff, or disconnect.

I have read the mailing lists and googled for several hours
but can not
find the setting in the vnc documents or the way to call a exit script
when the service stops. Can any one help me get ssh-agent to
exit when
I quit the viewer?

Thank you
joe
