I'm currently unable to setup VNC for use on my wireless LAN. I'm currently using Windows XP Pro SP2 both on my wired desktop and wireless laptop. I'm using a Linksys WRTG54 router. I've tried pretty much every port forwarding, service starting, VNC connection port changing suggestion I can find to no avail. One thing that boggles me is the VNC Server Test page: http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/nettest.cgi. When I use the test, it shows the WAN IP my ISP (Road Runner) provides, as well as a message that it's connecting to port 5900. Then it just hangs. What does this indicate?
For clarification, let me break down what steps I've taken now that the question is out of the way: 1. Forwarded ports 5800 - 5901 to my wired desktop (192.168.1.104) as well as my wireless laptop (.102) 2. Opened ports 5800-5801 and 5900-5901 on SP2 firewall for both machines. 3. Set exceptions in SP2 firewall for both the server and viewer applications. 4. For testing, set wired desktop and wireless laptop as DMZ on the router, and disabled firewalls on both, no go. Restored settings. 5. Enabled UPnP services on both machines *cringe* 6. Ensured Fast User Switching was not enabled on either machine. 7. ... Any further suggestions? Oh! Almost forgot, having similar difficulties with Remote Desktop application, if that tells you anything...
