Hi, I'm thinking of building a prototype to demonstrate a new approach to interviewing, where people simply broadcast their open source development live on the net in the hope of attracting potential employers:
http://clevercs.org/index.php?module=articles&func=display&ptid=1&aid=518 Some issues: * VNC may require too much bandwidth, particularly in places where broadband is not common; additionally, this is a broadcast with potentially hundreds of people watching * of course, potential employers would only have a "read-only" view; there would be a separate chat module for communication * there are privacy issues; a coder may accidentally reveal private info during the broadcast; it would be good to be able to turn the broadcast on and off easily and perhaps even hide certain parts of the screen display with sensitive information An alternative to using something like VNC is to use a collaborative editor as a starting point. Although this would help with privacy, potential employers would miss out on things not directly associated with editing (e.g., debugging sessions, watching the app run, etc.). Any feedback on this would be appreciated, particularly related to whether VNC would be suitable for this purpose. Amir P.S. I'm hoping to build a prototype for this soon for a potential startup. Let me know if you might be interested in joining me. _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [email protected] To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
