OK, please bear with me as my question requires a very long description.

I am a unix system administrator for the US Government. At work I have 2
systems on my desk: a Gateway desktop and a Sun workstation. My problem is
trying to connect to the Gateway. I have vnc installed on my Sun box and
the Gateway. I can log into the Gateway from the Sun box and everything is
just fine.

At home, however, I have issues. I have a Dell that I am trying to connect
to the Gateway. I am using a LinkSys router with port forwarding sending
all incoming port 5900 traffic directed to my Dell. We use Checkpoint for
VPN at work. I have installed SecuRemote and am able to connect to my
works LAN just fine. I can ping my Gateway and my Sun box and using putty
I can log into my Sun Box. However, when I try to use VNC viewer to
connect from my Dell, thorugh the VPN, to my Gateway, I get stuck. I am
prompted for my username and password. Then the screen saver I have
running on my Gateway shows up on my Dell. If I touch nothing at this
point, the screensaver keeps going. But the moment I try to Send a
Ctrl+Alt+Del, click with the mouose... anything, the screen dies and I am
told:

read: Connection reset by peer (10054)
Do you wish to attempt to reconnect to <my IP address>:0?

If I say Yes, I get

The connection closed unexpectedly
Do you wish to reconnect to <my IP address>:0?

>From there if I say Yes, it just keeps repeating that message.

Any thoughts? I am running XP on my Dell desktop and have tried doing this
both with the Windows Firwewall on and off. I also have a rule setup in my
LinkSys router forwarding VNC traffic to and from my Dell.

Thanks for you help.
