This has been solved. My sys admin found that the system couldn't find libstdc++.so files when ran with inetd. So he fixed that up and all is well. thanks

VNC 4.1.2 Free
with XFree 4.3 on Linux
I have compiled vnc 4.1.2 for Linux (amd x86_64) but have the following
question:
It works fine if I use vncserver and start Xvnc manually on the Linux box and
then connect from a remote computer
to the :<display number> it comes up with.
But if I try to set it up to fire up as -inetd, it says: "reading version
failed, not a RFB server?"
I had the 4.1.2 pre-compiled installed and it wored fine (except no GL module).
I had previous version of VNC installed in this manner and all worked fine.
How can this work manually but not work via inetd?
Thanks for any pointers.
tom
