Almost every recent Linux distribution has a firewall turned on by default
that blocks all incoming connections (regardless of services you may have
configured on the machine, like VNC - it's somewhat illogical, but that's
how it is). Find the configuration file or utility for that firewall and
turn it off for the port that VNC uses.
