I don't know if that's the problem or not, but... I don't run VNC
as a service, but rather I have it loaded as a module in xorg.conf so
that when I connect I get the X gdm login screen. And I have no
problems doing it that way since it's being loaded through X, which does
know what or where its fonts (and font paths) are.
