Dear everybody,
Hello, my name is John. I am Deaf, and have a visually-impaired friend
who has a problem with VNC 3.3.7. (I know it is old, because the new
version (4.2.6) is NOT a free program, like version 3.3.7 was, because
of limited budget that we do not work full-time due of or disabilities
and the economy is very high that we cannot afford since we only work
part-time especially for myself is worse. So, anyway, my Deaf-Blind
friend's computer has VNC 3.3.7 when she first worked with EarthLink,
when I asked her to please come to Internet Relay Chat (IRC), and I had
to do a /WHOIS my Deaf-Blind friend (since I am a Network
Administrator--NetAdmin) for a Disability Network, I can see my friend's
real IP address that would be 4.156.*.* (like my old "o-lines" when I
had the same IP address with my old provider, anyway, when, I did typed
http://<ipaddress>:5800 and it worked very well for my connection with
my Deaf-Blind friend's VNC. Her main program was vncwin.exe. Later, most
recently, her computer had weird problems -- I discovered that my
Deaf-Blind's desktop was a BIG MESS. It deleted a few desktop that
including VNC's icon <sigh> so, I finally learned to analyze the problem
by going to Windows Explorer, I found that it was under "Unused Icons"
so, I dragged into a desktop for a Deaf-Blind person. (That person is a
female). Anyway, I told her to run it. I was on another PC under my
cable Internet. She also recently moved up from EarthLink to Verizon
DSL. I went to the Internet Relay Chat and I discovered that she has a
new IP address so, I went ahead to try http://<new IP address:5800>
Unfortunately, I first thought I had the wrong IP address. Two sets
looked almost alike (126 & 129) but I switched backward. I found out it
gave me an error, it said: The page cannot be displayed because the page
might be experiencing a technical problem, it was currently unavailable.
I had to instant message her and asked her a question if she ran
vncviewer.exe first? She said she did ran it. I asked her to make sure
if it was launched into a system tray (near the clock) and see if she
can notice "big V" on it. She said in a big word "YES!" I gulped. It
seemed like there is something blocked against her. I did asked her does
she has a router? She said no. She does not have a router. That's what
she knows about that. I am puzzled that I can't go through to her. For
me, I have a cable modem connected to Comcat with no router. That makes
me confused... Why am I not be able to connect to VNC through to her???
Hmm.
How can I solve this problem??
To recap this, I have a Comcast. She has a Verizon Online DSL.
Thank you for your help.
Have a good day.
Sincerely,
John Cunniff
