I wonder if the UltraVNC Video driver would work? I haven't tried it
myself but it seems like it should work.

You could try push installing UltraVNC and the video driver remotely
over the network using VNCScan to see if it will work. You can get
VNCScan at http://www.vncscan.com

Here are the steps to remotely deploy UltraVNC with the video card
driver installed:

1. Right-click the default group that is automatically created when you
first run VNCScan and then choose to add a new computer

2. Type in the address of the computer that is headless

3. Chose OK to save the computer

4. Back in the list, right-click the new computer and choose 'General
tools' and then 'Deploy VNC'

5. In the wizard, create a new profile that deploys Ultra and hit next.

6. You can either accept all of the defaults in the wizard or modify
settings as you 'Next' through the wizard to the last page

7. On the last page, put in an Administrator user/pass that is valid on
the remote computer so that the deployment wizard has admin access to
the c$ share

8. Press Finish and let it deploy

Subject: Control a PC without graphic card?

Hi,

I've searched and found an similar topic in "headless PC..." but it
didn't lead me to a solution, so I hope you can help.

My reason for using VNC is that my graphic card isn't working right now
and I want to control it via VNC from my laptop. The problem here is
that all I get is a black screen (or window if I don't use
fullscreen) as soon as I'm connected. I can control the PC "blindly",
i.e. it does react to every input, I'm just don't see anything besides
the mouse pointer's position...

Controlling another PC (which has a working GPU) works fine, so my
question is: Can I somehow make VNC run properly or do I need a GPU?

Thanks a lot, Aredor
