The difference is how they're run. Service mode is started as a windows
service - this means it is started before anyone logs onto the system,
and remains running whether someone is logged in or not. User mode is
started manually by a user after logging in, and runs only while they
are logged in. Setting it to run in Service mode will require
administrator privileges on the system, whereas running in User mode
will not.
